Earlier this fall, IVM attended SpiceWorld 2019, an IT conference held in Austin, Texas that connects IT pros with tech brands and their latest solutions. We had a blast getting to know other IT professionals and networking with employees from some of our existing client organizations.
While at the conference, we had the opportunity to showcase our solutions on the exhibit floor. A group of our sales employees connected with event attendees, shared demonstrations of our smart vending machines, and discussed how automated supply distribution has the power to change enterprise workflows.
It was a full three days of excitement and action! Not only did we come home with new insights and connections, but we also gained a few key takeaways from exhibiting at a major IT event:
1). Leverage your brand
We stocked one of our smart vending machines with IVM-branded t-shirts and notepads, so attendees who explored our product could leave our booth with a memorable take-away. Throughout the next few days of the conference, we were thrilled to see many of the attendees sporting our IVM shirts! We also had our own employees wear IVM shirts, which stood out in the crowd as they explored and networked throughout the duration of the conference.
2). Ensure you have a plan before you go
The conference was fun and informative, but it was also three long days of being on our feet! Before attending the event, we sat down to ensure we had enough staff with us to support booth traffic at all times and we made a plan for who would be in charge during specific time frames.
We also arranged our logistical needs—travel plans, accommodations, and shipping materials—well ahead of the event so we had plenty of time to prepare and ensure we could truly enjoy and make the most of the conference while there.
3). Be open to connecting with others
One of the best parts of going to a conference is the opportunity to network and get to know others! We had so much fun meeting IT professionals on the floor and discussing everything from business challenges, to new innovations, to hobbies outside of work. We formed great relationships that will not only inform the work that we do moving forward but can also help us share information about our solutions and products and those who utilize them.
Overall, we had an amazing experience connecting with peers at SpiceWorld and we are looking forward to future opportunities to grow our network and meet with other IT professionals!
